Kiran's posting with Narcotics Control Bureau was also marked by innovations and initiative. She launched and edited a narcotics magazine called “Narcontrol,” with the purpose of sharing narcotics information amongst law enforcement officials and the general public. This magazine disseminated information that had previously been considered confidential; even now, it is India's only official publication regarding Indian narcotics.

On the enforcement side, she spared no efforts in taking up clearance operations of illicit narcotics cultivation.
