After the receipt of the Ramon Magsaysay Award in 1994, Kiran set up India Vision Foundation (IVF) to work in the field of prison reforms, crime prevention, education, and rural development.

IVF began its work inside the prisons, by setting up a bread making unit within the Tihar prison. IVF also set up a plant nursery where rare saplings were grown and marketed outside Tihar. The profits earned from both endeavors go to the prisoner's welfare fund.

In addition, IVF has made tremendous accomplishments in the field of children's education through its various projects. For example, IVF educates the children of prisoners under its Crime Home Children project.

IVF also made a video documentary on the life and reforms in Tihar Jail, with a view to promote the efforts of reformation and to generate community support for the project.
